How do I replace missing or worn brushes?

If the brush has a pin protruding from the side at the base of it you need to align the pin with the open key hole notch in the side of the gear.   Simply pull on the brush as you twist it   If no pin or key hole is evident twist the brush to the left and right as you pull on it.  Sometimes it might take a little wiggling but they usually come out easily.  If it still isn’t coming off check to make sure the pin and key hole are lined up or from the bottom check to see the cross pin and notch line up.  Then you can coax it by turning the machine on its side and placing a blunt object through the bottom of the gear and tap a few times.

Replace your brushes when…

The top bristles are crushed down or are broken off.

When whey become worn out and appear frayed.

If a buildup appears on them.

Purchase new brushes that fit your needs.  There are many sizes and shapes and the goal should be to get the most bristle contact on your glass for optimum results.

Note: Cross Bar gear may be white

Cause or how do I avoid this problem from repeating?

Normal wear occurs and requires new brushes when your current ones are worn.  Cleaning your brushes regularly by placing the approved glass cleaner over the brushes and running the machine each time you change your sink will help keep brushes fresh.  You can also pour salt over the brushes, wrap them in a damp towel for a few hours then rince off.
