How do I replace the Gears and Gear Bushings
Needed: Screwdriver, 3/8” or 1/2 “open end wrench.
1) Separating the two base Plate’s
Remove the brushes. With the washer unplugged and lying on its side remove the plate screws on the bottom of the washer. Pull the bottom plate away from the washer exposing the Gears, Spacer, Shaft Bearings and bushings.
2) Removing individual parts and inspecting.
Simply lift out the Gears. At this time you should inspect the Gear Plate Bearings. If worn, they should be replaced. To remove Gear Bushings use a light hammer or the handle of your screwdriver to tap the Gear Plate Bearings out and dispose of properly. Inspect Drive Shaft Bearings for wear being sure Drive Shaft fits snug through center of Shaft Bearings. Replace at this time if needed.
3) Placing replacement parts.
Support the Plate as you push in the new Plate Bearings and shaft Bushings then tap them into place with your light hammer or screwdriver. A rubber mallet is even better as you don’t want to chip or dent the bearing. Make sure all bearings and bushings are properly seated. The widest part of the bearing should be flush all around with the Plate. Place the new Gears into the washer with the tall side up towards the motor.
4) Rebuilding the base of the washer
Once all pieces have been placed back in there correct spot place the lower Plate on a flat surface with feet down and gears placed with tall end of gear pointing up. Place Upper Plate assembly over the gears and spacers and push together. Put Through Bolts in proper holes, grip upper and lower plate together while you gently place machine on its side being carefull to keep plates together. With one hand push the through bolt through and with the other plate a nut on it. Once all through Bolts and Nuts have been placed tighten each one. Place in sink and begin regular use.

Cause or how do I avoid this problem from repeating?
Using a quality recommended low foam bar glass cleaner is the most effective way to avoid wear and get the best results. Using the wrong Brushes for your glassware, pushing down hard on the brushes and washing pictures on the washer is detrimental to your machine and will cause premature wear.
