How do I get ride of Bar Gack?

Q; What’s Bar Gack? A; Build up of Oil, mineral, sugar, juice, grease or other things that change texture, appearance or effectiveness of your sink or glass washer.  It can be an invisible film or of chewing gum consistency, it can be inconspicuous or very smelly.  Whatever its origins or properties it inhibits flavor, carbonation, taste, appearance of glass ware and affects your profits.  See; “Increase profits with my glassware”.

If your sink is dull or stained clean it with a quality powdered recommended bar glass Detergent to remove the film.  Use the same glass detergent to remove any film on the base of your glass washer.   To do this remove the Band from around the Base plates and using a screw driver collect sludge that’s between the plates.  Immerse glass washer in sink with water as you normally do and turn on.  Place a recommended bar glass cleaner on top of the brushes and let the machine run for a couple of minutes.  This will put the cleaner into solution and clean the brushes.  Turn the washer off and let set a while in the solution then turn on again for a couple of minutes.  Repeat this step a few times, empty the sink and repeat the cleaning if necessary until any Bar Gack is gone.  If there is Bar Gack on the underside of the motor remove this with a scrapper and wipe with damp cloth.  Do not run water over the motor!

If the brushes have heavy Bar Gack on them you can roll damp brushes in table salt and let them sit over night.  Rinse them thoroughly before placing them back in the washer for use throughout the day.  This will clean them and help refurbish them.

Cause or how do I avoid this problem from repeating?

Oil based cleaners are the biggest culprit of this problem along with letting the glass washer sit in dirty water overnight.  Do not use a pink hand or dish soap intended for the kitchen.  Use only recommended bar glass cleaners that are intended for the purpose of cleaning with an electric glass washer.  A product containing a mineral solvent in it is best.  Consider changing your water more often during a shift and never leave your sink full over night.  You should clean your washer and sink as described above about once a week or as needed.
