Problem; The brushes don’t turn but I can hear the motor running.

A: This problem is indicative of many potential broken parts.
1) See "My glass washer won't run" to see if is a motor problem.
2) Remove the gear guard/band around the base of the unit. Inspect all gears for missing teeth. (Upright model only) Also inspect the drive shaft bearings located at the narrow end of the tear drop shaped base plate. Inspect from the bottom looking for wear in the bearing where the shaft comes through. Also inspect the metal shaft gears for wear. Periodic stoppage or grinding noise can be attributed to any or all of these parts.
3) The drive coupler might be bad if the the motor seems to run quiet but the gears won't turn. Turn the glass washer on and grab the brushes. If the brushes stop turning with out a grinding noise then the drive coupler might need to be replaced.
